Geforce 8800GT is now G92/ D8P (Performance)

What a mess. IN the same document Nvidia uses D8P (Performance) codename as well as G92 for the Geforce 8800GT. It turns out that D8M is G98 a entry level chip.

The new card is indeed a single slot and will need a single 2x3 connector. It has two Dual DVI-I ports as well as HDMI and HDTV-out support. One of the other important things is that this new chip is 65nm and that the board will eat up to 110W which is more than twice better than what R600 needs.

It is a 9 inch single slot board and it looks like it will be introduced on the October 29th but this date can change easily

GeForce 8800GT (G92) Scored 10769 in 3DMark06

More details have popped up and we learned that GeForce 8800 GT (G92) will be clocked at 600MHz core and 1.8GHz memory. However Nvidia might still further increase the core clock depending on how Radeon 2950PRO performs. The reference score provided by Nvidia to the partners is 10.8K in 3DMark06 or to be exact 10769.

GeForce 8800 GT Overclocking Is Good

We heard the overclocking headroom for GeForce 8800 GT is pretty impressive mainly due to the finer 65nm process technology. However, Nvidia has purposely limits the core clock at 600MHz so its performance won't get too close to the GeForce 8800 GTS thereby hurt its sales. However, users can still choose to overclock the core and we should be seeing more than 700MHz easily.

To jsou prvni plody RV670 I posunuti data o 2 tydny vpred ma stejny cinitel. Konecne se mi ten trh zase zacina libit. 55nm ATi zjevne sedi a konecne nemaji problemy s navrhem chipu. Jednou to vyjit muselo Kazdopadne to tim padem vypada, ze i R700 bude na 55nm a to bude teprve zajimave.

Nemyslim, ze zrovna za tohle muze nejak RV670, tyhle cipy jsou podle vseho porad 90nm G80, takze kdo vi, jak dlouho ta karta bude opravdu na trhu. Prirovnal bych to k soucasne 2900Pro s 512-bit sbernici, jen kvantita bude asi vetsi.

Geforce 8800 GT doesn't do DirectX 10.1

Documents seen by Fudzilla indicates that G92/D8P aka the Geforce 8800 GT is not Shader model 4.1 compatible. It can mean one of two things, one, that Nvidia doesn't want release the information or two, simply that this chip doesn't have support for Shader model 4.1 and DirectX 10.1.

This comes as an interesting surprise as we know that the RV670 aka the Radeon HD 2950 series will support Shader model 4.1 and DirectX 10.1.

Nvidia can't keep up with demand

Nvidia could not keep up with the quantity of orders that they've had in the last two quarters. AMD has failed to offer a high end killer card and as such Nvidia had more orders that they expected.

This lead to a chip shortage and this upset a lot of Nvidia partners. Upset is a light understatement as the Nvidia only partners are furious as Jeff the Fish, the boss of the sales team and Fiona, the boss of the European sales department couldn't fill many of their orders.

This is actually a good thing for Nvidia's stock, as Nvidia claims that it has never sold more chips, but it's still not good in the long term. as the company has managed to upset most of its supporters.

Skóre G92 (a teda aj RV670) sa mi nezdá, lebo CJ na Beyond3D spomínal skóre G92 okolo 9000.

BTW: Tento príspevok som tu už raz mal, ale niekto mi ho asi zmazal. Taktiež som to dal do vlákna o RV670 (pre istotu, niektorí užívatelia nemusia čítať vlákna o nVidii a naopak).
