Digitimes reported a while a go that Intel was going for a respin to fix graphics problems, and that this revision wouldn't be widely shipping to ODM partners before late August. That would certainly explain the lackluster availability, but whether performance will be improved from the few benchmarks that are out there is, perhaps, questionable. I wouldn't rule it out, though.
