Radeon X1900 GT gets specification change

Beyond3D has learned of an upcoming specifications change to X1900 GT. The new spec lowers the clock speed by 63MHz, from 575MHz to 512MHz, while increasing the memory speed by 60MHz from 600MHz to 660MHz (1320MHz effective). A PCB redesign is also included to accomodate a fan change anticpated to produce improved accoustics, and HDCP capability is included by default on the new boards.

So, in exchange for a modest core decrease, purchasers of the new board will get faster memory, a hopefully quieter fan, and HDCP. As partners are expecting overall performance to remain pretty close, this doesn't sound like an unreasonable set of tradeoffs to be making.

Podivné rozhodnutí. Nemyslím, že propustnost pamětí bylo to, co omezovlao X1900GT ve výkonu... Buďto chce ATi vymést sklady (a 500MHz zvládne prakticky každý 90nm čip, takže by to dávalo smysl), nebo chce mít připravený prostor a odbyt pro RV570, které nedají 600MHz (X1950PRO).

Máme tu obrázek a info o nové verzi X1900GT:

- PCB stejné jako X1950PRO/RV570, pouze bez interních CF konektorů
- používat se bude R580 rev. A22 a R580 rev. A31, takže by nemělo jít jen o vymetání skladů, ale lepší čipy A31 půjdou na X1950XTX + X1900XT-256 a horší na X1900GT

ATI pushes X1900 GT launch to mid-October

SAMPLES have been ready for quite some times but ATI decided to postpone cards based on the RV570 and RV 560 cores.
The RV570 based Radeon X1900 GT and RV560 based X1650 XT cards will be pushed back for a month and will launch on the 17th of October.
