Password-cracking chip causes security concerns
"Using an $800 graphics card from nVidia called the GeForce 8800 Ultra, Elcomsoft increased the speed of its password cracking by a factor of 25, according to the company's CEO, Vladimir Katalov."

Nvidia Continues to Gain Graphics Market Share, AMD Keeps on Downfall
X-bit LabsCitace:
As a result, Intel remains on top of the market with 38% share, whereas Nvidia lags behind the leader by only 4.1% with 33.9%, the highest market share that Nvidia has had in many years. Meanwhile, Advanced Micro Devices lost 0.4% of the market and now commands 19.1%, which means that it ships two times less graphics adapters than Intel and roughly 44% less compared to Nvidia.

Hezka cislicka, ale bez dalsich udaju slouzi pouze k namasirovani ega nVidia ultrafans (ci intel, ci kdokoliv jiny...zalezi koho s kym porovnavate a koho potrebujete provokovat). Pak se zase daji vytahnout AMD cervena cisla, u kterych malokdo rozlisuje investice a vysledek z provozni cinnosti atd. atd.
Jenom pro doplneni, aby me nekdo neobvinoval z fanATIsmu.
New 8800GTS to come soon
FudzillaCitace:
We have confirmed that Nvidia plans to re launch Geforce 8800GTS cards based on D8P/G92 chip. This mean that the new old 8800GTS card will have 256 bit memory interface but still it should end up faster than its presessor.
The key is the faster Shader clock at a fast clock but we still don’t know when will this card be launched.
State of 3D: Q4 2007
PenstarsysCitace:
- G92 is 384bit
- Nvidia shaved off 80-100 million transistors (ala G71), some undisclosed/unknown feature taking up the space
- Not sure if G92 has DP support
- Nvidia will refresh their line up in November
- 8800GTX (new) - 700MHz Core, 128SPs @ 1800MHz, 384-bit
- 8800GTS (new) - 650MHz Core, 112SPs @ 1600MHz, 320-bit
- GX2 in Q1 2008 - 600MHz Core(s), 2 x 128 SPs, 1.5GB
GeForce 8800 GTS with 112 SPs makes its debut
TCMagazineCitace:
While rumors of a G92-based 8800 GTS are still flying around, the old G80-powered GeForce 8800 GTS (640MB version) simply won't die and it has been updated to house 112 Stream Processors (96 SPs on the older version). The specs of the re-tweaked 8800 GTS remain virtually the same although the first company to announce such a card, BFG, has already overclocked it. Nicknamed the GeForce 8800 GTS EE (Extreme Edition) OC, BFG's card features 112 SPs and is clocked at 565/1300/1700 MHz (GPU/shader/memory) from the stock (500/1200/1600). The card is set to cost $499 (yes, $500).
Proc se mi tomu nechce nejak verit? Ze by kvuli cene?
New G92 8800 GTS likely to surpass current 8800 GTX\Ultra
Daily TechCitace:
NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 GT might be remembered as one of the most successful NVIDIA graphics cards of our time, at least according to the flurry of reviews this week. Virtually every top tier e-tailer managed to sell out of the card in less than two days.
Yet NVIDIA isn't done yet. A G92-derivative will appear later this year with even more shader units. According to company guidance, the new G92 will launch in early December and feature 128 shader units as opposed to the 112 featured on GeForce 8800 GT.
This would be mean the additional 16 shader units exist on all GeForce 8800 GT cards, but are disabled for yield or marketing purposes. In addition to the extra shaders, the new G92 will also feature higher core frequencies and support for up to 1GB GDDR3.
The new 65nm G92 has a tentative SKU designation of GeForce 8800 GTS. This might sound confusing as NVIDIA already sports a GeForce 8800 GTS card based on the 90nm G80 silicon. However, since G92 sports a 256-bit memory interface, the new 8800 GTS cards will feature traditional memory blocks of 512MB or 1024MB. The older, G80-based GeForce 8800 GTS features 320-bit memory blocks of 320MB or 640MB.
As the new GeForce 8800 GT generally outpaces the existing GeForce 8800 GTS, the new GeForce 8800 GTS will likely surpass NVIDIA's high-end GeForce 8800 GTX and potentially GeForce 8800 Ultra.
Hádam to tu ešte nebolo:

320bit zbernica výkonu moc nepridala.
Zdroj.
Lars Weinard is now Nvidia
FudzillaCitace:
A new month means the new beginning and we can confirm that Ex Riva station, ex Toms Hardware and ex ATI/AMD technical PR manager Lars Weinard started at Nvidia.
This nice chap went from editor’s chair to a technical marketing chair at Nvidia and he made a nice stop at ATI / AMD doing the same thing. Obviously, he picked a lot of experience and secrets at DAAMIT so he will definitely be a valuable part of Nvidia now.
We hope that he will find its peace with Nvidia’s Borg culture and of course, we wish him a lot of luck and success with his new position.
Borg culture ;D
