- VT8233/VT8233A/VT8233B/VT8235/VT8237 (74) family south bridges are named as "VIA AC'97 PCI Enhanced Audio Device"

- Intel ICH2/ICH3/ICH4 family south bridges that MUST also use VIA codec

- (VT1616/VT1617/VT1612/VT1613) are named as "VIA AC'97 Audio Codec"

- SiS family south bridges that MUST also use VIA codec

- (VT1616/VT1617/VT1612/VT1613) are named as "VIA AC'97 Audio Codec"
