G84 is the next Nvidia chip
Citace:
We only know that the chip is derived from G80 and will have less real pipelines and of course will end up smaller.
It is scheduled for late March or early April 2007 introduction and we can also confirm that AMD won't have its mainstream DirectX 10 to compete with this in time. So this one might once more be the dominant mainstream chip in the market.
This means the birth of $199 to $249 DirectX 10 part is not that far away after all.

Partners fight Nvidia for an overclocked G80
Citace:
THE OVERCLOCKED G80 will eventually see daylight. The only question is when the manufacturers are going to win this fight.
There are two possible dates, the optimistic one would be in pre Yule time but we are kind of running out of time on this one as there is only three weeks to go.
The second, more realistic date, would be January 2007. This would allow Nvidia to give manufacturers a chance to make a faster clocked card and the market is here to embrace it.

Nvidia steals ATI's mobile thunder
Citace:
WHO would have thought that Nvidia might take ATI's market share in mobile business? Out of the blue, Nvidia managed to get some strong OEM business deals for its notebook division. We haven't seen this happening for years.
Nvidia's Geforce 7600 got rather popular and more than a few manufacturers are using the Geforce 6150 integrated graphic. Sony and some others like the Geforce 7300 too. Nvidia also dominates with its MXM modules and can put even two 7900 GTX mobile cards together in SLI.

Nvidia finally shows off Vole a Vista 32 bit driver
Citace:
WE STILL CAN'T get it but we have, at least, seen and played with one. Nvidia finally has a Vista 32 bit driver version 10.30. We saw it at multiple locations and we even saw Crysis running on it. Of course it is a "non public" beta version.
So the driver exists and Nvidia got to the number 10 in its driver seriess. It was running some demomstations and games AOK. At least we know that there is something around the corner as we only have three weeks before the big Vole-a-Vista launch.

Re: G80 - G90 a dalsi novinky
G80 is more CPU than GPU
Citace:
A WELL-CONNECTED source says Nvidia's G80 is as programmable as the average CPU. Nvidia’s flagship chip powering the Geforce 8800 GTX and GTS has, he said, almost everything that a CPU needs.
This may answer the question, can and will Nvidia make a CPU? Certainly the chip is not meant to be X86 compatible but it is apparently super programmable. We hear that it could probably handle X86 instructions as well.
AMD techies took a deep look at the G80 and confirmed the claims. G80 has all the features of CPU but it is big, hot and bulky. However, Nvidia still has to shrink the chip to make it cost effective.

NVIDIA ordering 80nm G80s
Citace:
Since the chips are being migrated to 80nm, we can expect some pretty hefty changes in the way the 8800 series of cards are sold. As well, the change should have some particularly beneficial performance enhancements.
First of all, the die shrink should reduce the core's surface area from 420mm² to a bit under 380mm² if the process shrink involves perfect scaling. Power consumption will also drop due to the shorter distances between transistor gates. The two of these things combined mean that we should see some lower temperatures from the next round of G80s, which would be a blessing and a half - current models are not unknown to hit a blistering 90C under load.
The second blessing will come with cost - the die shrink means that there will be quite a few more chips per wafer. On the 90nm process, NVIDIA gets about 80 chips gross (meaning before defective chips are thrown out) out of each wafer. The move down to 80nm should increase this turnout to roughly 90 chips, a 12.5% increase. The increased yield will allow NVIDIA to drop the cost of the chips a bit, which we will hopefully see filter into the marketplace sooner than later.

GeForce 8600 Has 128-bit Memory Interface
Citace:
he recent rumors regarding the GeForce 8600 (G84) of having a 256-bit memory interface is incorrect. We are able to confirm at this point of time that GeForce 8600 series will be 128-bit and has 256MB GDDR3 memories onboard. Onto the rumours, We heard there are 2 versions; 8600GT and 8600GS clocked at 650/1800MHz and 550/1400MHz respectively for core and memories. Both come with 64 shader processors.

GeForce 8950GX2 2×96 550/2000MHz 2×256b 2×512MB GDDR4 $599

GeForce 8900GS 96 550/1600MHz 256b 512/256MB GDDR3 $299/$249
GeForce 8600GT 64 650/1800MHz 128b 256MB GDDR3 $199
GeForce 8600GS 64 550/1400MHz 128b 256MB GDDR3 $149
GeForce 8300GT 32 600/1600MHz 128b 256MB GDDR3 $99
GeForce 8300GS 32 500/1400MHz 128b 256/128MB GDDR3 $79/$69
GeForce 8300LE 32 500/800MHz 128b 128MB GDDR2 $59
GeForce 8100GS 32 450/800MHz 64b 128MB GDDR2 $49
Tuto informaci potvrdil i server VR-Zone.
Informace z Beyond3D fóra v tomto případě trochu popírají ty z PConline. Podle nich má v březnu vyjít GeForce 8600GTS (G84), v polovině dubna pak GeForce 8600GT, přičemž budou existovat i verze s HDMI výstupem a podporou HDCP.

Next NVIDIA high-end chip will be the G81?
Citace:
THE G80 replacement looks like it might be known as G81, and it appears that Nvidia will take the radical step of making it at 65 nanometre. That is what's been rumoured in China and Taiwan and according to sources close to or inside TSMC.
