Radeon Omega Drivers 4.8.442 (Catalyst 7.12)

Here is a little something for the ATI fans, the new Radeon Omega Drivers for Windows XP v4.8.442 based on the official Catalyst 7.12 drivers. The changes done to this version are not many, but HUGE, so, to make sure people are reading the ReadMe file (cause I get TONS of email from people asking over and over about stuff that is already said in the ReadMe, the FAQ or the front page of my site), I have prepared a system that when you try to download a driver from one of my links, it pops a new page with LOTS of crazy bright neon colors flashing on the screen and an annoying loud alarm sound with a BIG bold link to the ReadMe file in the middle of the screen... well, that's a joke, but wouldn't it be fun?

Now go see that ReadMe that I put much love in writing it before downloading anything else and all will be fine.

Stop the emails! The Vista ATI drivers are not ready yet, I'm working on them thou. ATI changes from XP to Vista are HUGE, really takes a lot of work to get it right the first time and I don't want to disappoint, so please have patience.

What's New in Omega Drivers?
v4.8.442
[*] Based on the Catalyst 7.12 Official drivers.
[*] Major video card support rewrite from scratch. This time every Radeon card under the sun should be supported, if the divers don't install on your card you either have a freak of nature card or a card too new that not even the ATI has support for it. ;) (Many thanks to all the people that sent their unsupported IDs)

[+] Added support for desktop HD3k Series and laptop HD2k Series.

[+] Experimental Gamma settings. Now whatever gamma setting you set on your desktop should pass on to your 3D applications. (tested with Adobe Gamma)

[+] The "temporary" fix for AGP cards still included. Waiting for ATI releases an official fix... *sigh*
[*] Upgraded installer to reflect logo/site changes.
[*] Upgraded drivers to v4 because of the previous details, plus thanks to a new install method I found, reduced the driver's size by a lot without loosing any features or options.


Known Issues:
1) For the 2D->3D gamma trick to work properly you must NOT run CCC (if you have it installed); when CCC is open it forces it's own gamma settings overriding any gamma you have set using a 3rd party tool. If you happen to open CCC by mistake, in order to recover the gamma correction values, you only need to run whatever gamma program you use and gamma should be back to your settings again.

2) Since Overscan has been from the drivers, if you need to connect your PC to a regular TV that DOES need overscan in order to view it properly, you need to install the official CCC Control Panel from ATI after my drivers so you have access to the new "scaling" feature and scale the overscan to fit your needs.

3) From Cat 6.6 and up ATI removed driver-level support for the following series of cards (including Mobility models): Radeon 7k, 8k, 9k-9250 Series. Since the Omega Drivers use ATI drivers as a base, that means they will also not include support for these chipsets, they may install, but the PC may give you a BSOD or a black screen upon boot, install newer drivers at your own risk. People that need to install Omega Drivers on these cards should use v3.8.252 or older, you can get these on the Archive section of my site.

Tak SNAD uz konecne zase budu moct pouzivat na pracovnim kompu s 1650Pro :)

no pokud to mas do AGP tak bych rekl ze to pofici.. uz i Omegy postaveny na Catalystech 7.10 jely paradne na AGP kartach ;)

az prijedu doma tak potestuju na HD3870 jestli je tam stejnej bug jak na origo Catalystech

prave ze pci-e, ale po tri verze ovladacu (O) mi to absolutne nejelo :)

mno nahodil som tuto verziu ovladacov, ale bohuzial - ATT zase neukazuje spravne frekvencie PAMATI ani jadra a ani teplotu nevidim... Mam grafiku vid. podpis... ma niekto podobne skusenosti ???

mam o dost nizsi vykon oproti klasickejm 7.11 a 7.12.. samozrejme mereno v 3DMarcich, setkal se s tim nekdo??

No ja po instalaci uz ani nespustil MoHA :) takze na tom asi neco bude.. 3d mark sem radeji nezkousel pze to je v mym pripade zbytecny

Kazdopadne pokud to skutecne je zjevne pomalejsi, napiste mu! Nebo postnete na DH fora...

Me tyhle ovladace konecne opravily artefakty v Crysis (sede trojuhelniky). Ale uznavam, ze jsem to castecne opravil rucne v nastavenich 3D v ATT uz v Cat.7.10. Jen jsem se nedokazal zbavit do cervena (nekdy zelena) zbarvenych okraju obrazovky (spodni a pravy). Ted s omegama je vse uz ok.

no mne tie omegy nedokazali nastavit rozslisenie a mal som snad 16 farieb v XP 32bit. takzke som musel dat normale 7.12 :(

Potvrdzujem. Vykon nizsii o cca 4-5%. Merane v 3dMarkoch 05 a 06.

Bože, koho zajímá výkon v 3D Marku? Honíte se za nesmyslnáma číslama. Když si pustíte hru, nepoznáte žádnej rozdíl. Naprosto nula. Vzbuďte se... (čímž nechci říct, že tahle verze nemůže mít lehce nižší výkon, může, ale změna v reálných podmínkách je nula)

Hraju teď jenom Hellgate London a tam tyto Omegy bodují - je to lepší než předešlé Omegy.
