Corsair pochybuje o Ahlonu 64

Firma Corsair ve středu seznámila novináře se svými pochybnostmi ohledně výkonu procesoru AMD Athlon 64. Oficielně oznámila, že její paměťové moduly doporučené pro platformu AMD64 nejdou dobře přetaktovávat, což se jí vzhledem směrování procesoru na segment počítačových nadšenců nelíbí. Zároveň také řekla, že očekávaný 30% nárůst výkonu v 32-bitových aplikacích oproti srovnatelným procesorům kategorie x86 se jí zdá poněkud optimistický. Firma se taktéž domnívá, že i dosáhnutí frekvence 2GHz může být pro Athlon 64 větším problémem, než se původně zdálo, i když Opterony již na této frekvenci běží. A nám nezbývá než si počkat...

Myslite ze se Athlon64 objevi kratce po svem vydani 23.zari, nebo budeme cekat dalsich x mesicu nez se objevi na trhu ??? Ja se na nej uz celkem klepu ;D

3200+ (2GHz) Athlon 64 on the 23rd September,charge around $399 for the single channel DDR 754 pin model. In October, it will introduce a 3400+ version of the chip. And its Athlon 64 FX, which is a 940 pin dual channel DDR chip, is expected to cost over $650, but will not use AMD's "PR" rating. Meanwhile, the Athlon 64 FX with 939 pins will now launch at the end of the first quarter of next year, and we understand it won't now be compatible with the 940 pin version, meaning a motherboard change. This chip is currently codenamed San Diego, and had been expected to be released in Q1 of next year.

REPORTS OF PROBLEMS with the 754 pin version of the Athlon 64 and of performance not being good are ill-founded, according to motherboard makers we've talked to. At launch in late September, AMD will introduce a 754-pin and a 940 version of the Athlon 64 and that will be followed next year by a 939 pin version.According to one motherboard maker, engineering samples of the 754 pin version have been available for some time and not only is the chip overclockable, its performance is markedly better than the rough Intel equivalents. Yesterday we reported Corsair as saying there were performance problems with the Athlon 64, but we wonder if this is something to do with the memory type rather than with the microprocessor itself.

No kdyz se vezme vykon Opterona tak ten Athlon64 by nemusel bejt az tak zlej :-) a taky v to doufam ;D ... ale ta cena je dost silena a jsem taky dost zvedavej na frekvence... jestli treba nezacnou delat 2GHz 128bit ;D :mweheh:

No uspech athlonu 64 ani tak nebude urcovat freq. jako podpora od vyrobcu software. Sun oznamil Javu pro 64bit...takze do athlonu pujdu asi taky, alespon do toho levnejsiho :-)
