"Yup, I bought the hype, too. "THE FORTHCOMING A7N8X BLOWS-AWAY THE KT400"
I read quite a few reviews about this board before it came out. Either ASUS sent the reviewers boards that were totally different than the ones they are selling, or they put a big chunk of change in their pockets!
These boards are just plain awful. BIOS problems, driver problems, installation nightmares, audio problems, ethernet problems, IDE problems. SO ... what DOES work on this board? They even claimed it's compatible with Windows98 ... it's definately NOT. We were all TAKEN by the marketing hype. This situation either calls for a total product recall or a class action law suit. We've been seriously mislead into handing-over our cash for a product that has consistently proven that it doesn't work. Why do you think it took so long between the announcement and the retail release? Because THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO WORK! Finally, some bean counter decided that they had to shove the boards out onto the streets, working or not.
Right about now, I'll bet these motherboard manufacturers are swamped with tech support calls and RMAs. Once the word gets widely spread on the internet about how bad these boards suck, they'll be sending them home with their employees to use for doorstops! So, if you're one of the poor souls who's spent countless hours trying to get a A7N8X to function properly, I strongly suggest that you do something about it. Email EVERY SINGLE tech site and post on every forum that you can find, and let them know the truth about these pathetic heaps of wasted silicon. If all of us do it, the motherboard manufacturers will be forced to make good on it, or suffer the consequences in terms of sales and company integrity.
After this terrible experience (buying a A7N8X), knowing that ASUS was totally aware that these boards were not ready for release, yet did it anyway, I will never buy another ASUS product again."
