Visty a vytáčení připojení na internet (dial-up)

Zdravím.
Mám na noťasu Visty Home Basic. Na internet se připojuji přes ADSL, ale teď budu měnit providera a tudíž budu mít výpadek připojení cca 5-20 dní. po tuto dobu chci použít jako náhradu vytáčené (dial-up) připojení, ať mohu udělat alespoň nejnutnější věci.
Mám doma dva funkční modemy - Microcom USB 56K Travel/S a Well FM-56USB. Když modem (kterýkoliv) připojím, tak jej Visty najdou jako nějaký "Smart 56K USB" modem a tvrdí, že funguje správně. Když spustím ve Vistách diagnostiku monemu, tak je vše OK. telefonické připojení jde nastavit. Když se ale chci připojit, tak mi Visy totálně spadnou a objeví se "modrá obrazovka smrti" s touto hláškou:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

A kernel timer or DPC was found in memory which must not contain such items. Usually this is memory being freed. This is usually caused by a device driver that has not cleaned up properly before freeing memory.

If this is the first time you´ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed if this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software nabufactured for any windows updates you might need.

If problem continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadiwing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced startup Options, and then select safe mode.

Samozřejmě by bylo řešením koupit nový modem, ale potřebuji dva (mám dva nezasíťované kompy) a nechce se mi nový modem kupovat kvůli 14-tidennímu výpadku ADSL.

Nevíte někdo co stím, jak ty modemy pod Vistami rozchodit?
